I am fascinated by the split surface of firewood. Making firewood involves repetitive actions but creates various distinctive and organic results. I aim to highlight the essence of the material by emphasising the natural properties of wood. The wood grain is arranged to create a pleated texture, transforming a solid piece of wood into something that resembles soft and light fabric. The vessel appears fragile but it is strong. The inner wood grain that hides in a tree now faces outward, revealing its intrinsic beauty. The entire process fosters an intangible bond between me and the wood.
